Usually a new Stereolab album can be counted on to solidly update their sound with a few nips and tucks. Margerine Eclipse, their last album of original material, was a bit above the curve...but this new one...Wow!
Chemical Chords has more hooks than a sheet of Velcro. It is one of those releases that you can't stop playing over and over until every last riff is seared into your memory.
"Neon Beanbag", "Silver Sands", "Self portrait with Electric Brain" and "Cellulose Sunshine" are among the standouts, but pretty much everything on here except the slightly silly "Daisy Click Clack" leaps out at some point and grabs you.
Ear Candy? Perhaps. Time to listen to it again.
